Nubelar® Satin (Fluoropolymer Coating)

Product Type
NUBELAR® SATIN is a premium low gloss "Non-Glare" fluoropolymer coating utilizing Kynar 500®1 or Hylar 5000®2 proprietary resins. NUBELAR® SATIN coatings are field-proven, high performance exterior quality finishes. They provide outstanding resistance to ultraviolet radiation resulting in exceptional color retention, resistance to chalking, and chemical degradation which makes NUBELAR® SATIN a preferred choice among architects and metal building manufacturers.

All exterior components of aluminum, G-90 galvanized steel, Galvalume®3, and Zincalume®4 that will lend themselves to a factory-applied oven baked finish can be coated with NUBELAR® SATIN. NUBELAR® SATIN coatings are applied to long-life exterior products such as pre-engineered building panels, residential and architectural roofing, louvers, fascia, spandrel paneling, and column covers. NUBELAR® SATIN'S unique low gloss, "Non-Glare" properties makes it an ideal coating for buildings located in or near airports, buildings constructed in metropolitan cities, as well as residential roofing. The excellent adhesion and flexibility properties of NUBELAR® SATIN provides superior post forming performance to enhance the coated products appearance for years to come.

Application
NUBELAR® SATIN coatings are formulated to be to be coil coated on aluminum, G-90 galvanized Steel, Galvalume, and Zincalume substrates that have been properly cleaned, pretreated and printed in accordance with  Lilly Industries’ technical specification sheet. Long-life durability and performance is achieved by applying 0.25 – 0.35 mils of Lilly Industries' 623L144 Galvalure and Primer and 0.7 - 0.9 mils of NUBELAR® SATIN Topcoat. For special applications, NUBELAR® SATIN may be applied at higher film builds.

Maintenance
NUBELAR® SATIN coatings exhibit high stain resistance and require minimal maintenance. Surface residue is generally removed with conventional cleaning solutions and/or detergents. Minor scratches may be touched up with a specially formulated field-applied air-dry touch up coating of the same color, not with NUBELAR® SATIN. Conventional caulking compounds and sealants are acceptable for use in conjunction with NUBELAR® SATIN.

Availability
NUBELAR® SATIN coatings are available in a wide spectrum of standard in-stock colors. Special long-lasting colors are also available from Lilly Industries - Color Sciences Group. Our Color Sciences team of expert color formulators provide guidance and color styling to architects and specifiers searching for that special color to complement their building’s design. Lilly Industries has available a list of metal building manufacturers, fabricators, and custom applicators offering building components finished with NUBELAR® SATIN coatings.
